SECURITY & CONFIDENTIALITY

  Below are the security controls in place to ensure that the Promotions & Tenure website is secure and the   information on the site remains confidential.

1. The Promotions & Tenure Website is located on a separate secure server from the Columbia University website and the Department of Medicine Website. You cannot navigate to it by going to www.columbia.edu or www.columbiamedicine.org.
   
   
2. The site will be password protected. Since the Promotions & Tenure Website is not linked with the Columbia University system, the site cannot be designed to accommodate the familiar UNI and password protocol. All Executive Committee members will use their UNI as a username and a password that will be sent in a separate email.
   
   
3. To confirm that the site is secure, please note that after you sign in, the web address ends in “shtml” instead of “html”. The “s” indicates that the site is secure.
   
   
4. The web site address link will only be sent to the people who should have access to the site. These people include the current members of the Executive Committee (94 as of November 1, 2006);
   Greer J. McPhaden, Director of Faculty Development & Promotions and Glenny Perdomo, Webmaster.
   
   
5. Once the link to the site is sent, please Bookmark it or add it to your Favorites, instead of writing it on a piece of paper. Please do not ever send the link to anyone who is not indicated above.
